Chiropractic: What is it & What Are the Benefits?

Chiropractic is a hands-on, healthcare profession that focuses mainly on the spine, the joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system. Chiropractors specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and care of spine-related and joint disorders. One key focus of chiropractic care is to detect and correct vertebral subluxations (spinal mis-alignments), this restores the healthy function of the spine and nervous system and therefore, enables the body to function at its optimal potential.

Reduce Your Pain. Increase Your Joint Mobility. Improve Your Performance.

In addition to Chiropractic Adjustments, Chiropractors also provide Nutritional Advice, Life Coaching, Lifestyle Recommendations, and Soft-Tissue Therapies.

AT IN-LINE FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

LAYING THE FOUNDATION

Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .

RELIEF CARE

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your pain/discomfort, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.

CORRECTIVE/

RESTORATIVE CARE

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

WELLNESS CARE

Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

TECHNIQUES WE OFFER

We offer Manual, Instrumental & Combination Technique Adjustments. Our Chiropractors are certified in all techniques listed below, and many more!

Diversified (DCT)

One of the most common techniques used. It involves application of a “short, quick thrust” over a restricted joint. The main goal is to restore the normal range of motion within the joint.

Drop Table (Thompson)

This approach uses a special chiropractic table. It has special segments that can be lifted up, and dropped when a thrust is applied by the chiropractor. The drop allows gravity to assist & work in combination with manual adjustment. It is considered a “lighter, less intense” technique.

Torque Release (TRT)

Utilizing the Integrator, a chiropractors only toggle recoil instrument, a torque and recoil release adjusting instrument which combines existing techniques, quantum physics and the body/mind connection.

Applied Kinesiology

Also known as muscle testing, this method allows chiropractors to find very specific points on the body that need adjusting. This is because the muscle-brain connection is super strong. Whatever is going on in that specific area of muscle, is instantly reported to the brain. Allowing to test for “weak” spots in that muscle - brain communication pathway.

O.T.Z.

OTZ Technique is used to analyze and manipulate the joint between the occiput and the Atlas (first cervical vertebrae). The analysis involves palpation of the joint, as well as observation of specific posture distortions.

Webster

The Webster technique is a specific sacral analysis & diversified adjustment. The goal of this technique is to decreases the impact of sacral mis-alignments or Sacroliliac joint dysfunction. These subluxations can cause low back pain, symphysis pubis pain, sciatica, lower abdominal pain & bodily asymmetry, leads to inauterine contraint

Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practioner (CCEP)

Extremities are defined as joints that exist outside the Skull and Spine. Misalignments in extremities can cause pain on their own and are also commonly associated with chronic overuse or repetitive motion conditions. Misalignments put additional pressure on the tissues around the joints. And by not getting the proper treatment, your body attempts to over-compensate, which could lead to more subluxations within your spine and in other joints.

Trigenics

When muscles are stressed or injured, they cannot send the proper nerve signals to the brain. Muscles become weak and movement becomes inhibited. Trigenics works to find and correct the specific weakness to reinstate proper joint movement. This technique is effective in providing relief for all neuromuscular injuries, and nearly any condition involving muscles, tendons, nerves, and joints.

Tonal Integrative Correction (TIC)

T.I.C. is a chiropractic technique that can be utilized alongside other techniques or as a stand alone method. It is a safe, gentle and precise adjusting procedure effective on infants, adults and seniors. There is no audible "popping", leaving many patients at ease to receive the spinal correction they need for their body to heal.
